Primary Care Paramedics – Northwest Territories

Haztech has openings for Primary Care Paramedics licensed in Canada and living in the NWT to join our team for the 2022 Wildfire season. 

This role will be performed on an on-call basis to provide medical support during the NWT Wildfire Season. This role includes short-notice travel and living away from home for stretches of time therefore, the PCPs are required to have availability for a minimum of 5 days in a row. This role is ideal for medics who work on a rotational basis and have stretches of time off, or medics with flexibility in their schedule.

Please note that travel is only provided for medics who live in the NWT, ideally in the Yellowknife area. We can not provide travel for out-of-province/territory medics.

As a member of Haztech’s Basic Life Support (BLS) team, the Primary Care Paramedic provides onsite emergency medical services within the wildfire environment, tending to both urgent, and non-urgent medical needs. Responsibilities include the use of skills and expertise to provide emergency response, medical assessment, primary health care, chronic disease management, injury prevention, health promotion, and coordination of emergency medical evacuations as needed. You will exercise independence, judgment, and initiative by logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems that arise on site.

Qualifications, Skills & Competencies
    • Completion of recognized Primary Care Paramedic program & valid license from a Canadian province
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate
    • International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) certificate
    • Standard First Aid CPR-HCP
    • Ability to work autonomously and under pressure
    • Valid driver’s license and criminal record clearance

Safety Training Instructor – Yellowknife, NWT

Haztech has an immediate opening for a Red Cross First Aid Instructor in Yellowknife

Reporting to the Safety Training Manager, the Safety Instructor is responsible for coordinating and executing training at Haztech Training Centres, and various locations as required. The candidate must have a minimum of 3 years of instructing experience and ideally Energy Safety Canada Certified. Those not certified with ESC must be qualified to become certified. Preference will be given to candidates who are also certified Standard First Aid & CPR instructors.

Specific Accountabilities:
  • Provide Safety training to the highest standards
  • Complete and submit any/all paperwork post-course completion
  • Business development for Safety courses
  • Inventory and order training materials and supplies
  • Create and maintain positive relationships with Haztech clients
  • Ensure all clients and students are treated with the utmost respect and professionalism
  • Professionally represent Haztech and provide exceptional service to all customers and clients

Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies
  • Knowledge of OHSA and regulations
  • Minimum 3 years experience as an instructor and/or Energy Safety Canada certified
  • Experience instructing multiple safety disciplines such as, but not limited to, H2S, Fall Protection, Confined Space, WHMIS, etc
  • MUST hold current certifications for disciplines you are instructing
  • Standard First Aid & CPR/AED instructor is an asset
  • Current First Aid certificate
  • Ability to work autonomously and under pressure
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Criminal record clearance

First Aid Instructor – Kelowna, BC

Haztech has an immediate opening for a Red Cross First Aid Instructor in the Kelowna area.

Reporting to the Safety Training Manager, the First Aid Instructor is responsible for coordinating and executing training at Haztech Training Centres, and various locations as required. This position requires experience as a First Aid instructor with a recognized training agency and relevant experience.

Preference will be given to candidates who are also certified to instruct safety disciplines such as but not limited to, H2S, Confined Space, Fall Protection, etc.
