Description
The Saskatchewan College of Paramedics has expanded EMR scope skills, including 3-lead ECG application/acquisition, nasopharyngeal airway use, monitoring peripheral IV crystalloid infusions without additives, hemostatic dressings, ostomy drainage system monitoring, single-attempt fracture reduction when distal circulation is compromised, and naloxone IM administration.
This 8-hour bridge course is designed for licensed Saskatchewan EMRs who need to update their training, demonstrate competence, and continue practising safely within the expanded EMR scope. The course includes lecture, hands-on skills practice and assessment, integrated simulation, and final evaluation.
To successfully complete the course, participants must pass a 30-question written exam with a minimum score of 70% — 21 correct answers — and successfully demonstrate all required critical practical skill elements. EMRs must continue to practise within SCoP requirements, employer policy, documented training, current competence, protocols, and medical direction.
