Description
Participants should arrive 5 to 10 minutes early. This class is a 16-hour course over 2 days.
Students will learn and demonstrate all knowledge and skills required to provide safe, effective care to those requiring it. This includes a basic introduction to personal hygiene, medication administration, nutrition, mobility, and assessment skills as well as providing mental, emotional, and spiritual support.
NOTE: Students are not qualified to administer medications or use mechanical lifts with this course. Further certification is required.
Course Objectives
- Students will be trained as professionals to provide safe care
- Students will have the ability to comprehend and successfully demonstrate all required skills
- Successfully complete a written exam and participate in 100% of the course
Duration
16 hours, 2 days in class.
Certificate
All participants who complete this program and achieve 75% or higher on their exam will receive a Personal Care Worker Certificate of Completion from St. John's Ambulance.
